Data & Methodology

How we turn MOT data into reliability intelligence.

Defect Clustering Logic

We group similar defects (e.g. brake-related advisories) so that minor wording differences in MOT records don’t fragment the picture. That gives consistent categories for trend and peer comparison.

Peer Grouping Criteria

Vehicles are compared to others of the same make, model, and similar age. Peer groups are defined so that comparisons are like-for-like and meaningful.

Anomaly Thresholds & Scoring

We use statistical methods to flag when a vehicle’s defect or advisory rate is meaningfully higher than its peers. Scoring is based on these deviations and historical patterns.

Limitations & Disclaimers

Our analysis is based on historical MOT and related data. It does not assess the current mechanical condition of any specific vehicle and should not replace a professional inspection. Use our insights to inform your research and negotiations, not as a sole basis for purchase decisions.
